DIYBio Barcelona was born after a brief meeting at Fab12. Our activity started at Made Makerspace on 2012, until we moved to SokoTech on March 2021.

Our space is open to public on Thursday afternoon.

Nuria Conde

Nuria is a post-doctoral researcher at Complex Systems Laboratory at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in the PRBB. She holds a major in Biology and a engineering in informatics and performed her research thesis about Biocomputation, that it is at the interface of both fields. Nuria teaches biology for architects, artist and designers of IAAC and GreenFabLab.

Daniel Grajales

PhD student at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CIN2), sponsored by the Mexican Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), he currently works on the integration of a lab on a chip biosensor based on photonic interferometric devices with applications on environmental sensing and human health. He is among the promoters of a group of bio – and technology enthusiasts.

Esteban Martin

Esteban works as a software engineer designing and implementing multiple system’s architecture. Esteban is a maker, programer, coder and consolidated designer. Esteban has seen the birth and bloom of the makers scene in Barcelona and has a long trajectory of expertise in 3D printing and design.

Rosen Ivanov

Rosen is a graduate of ar-science turned sociologist of science and technology. He works on public participation in science and technology through hacker culture and other alternative STEM groups. In particular, he is interested in the concept of openness and the various hypes, practices and politics around it. He likes mutants, DIY-tech workshops & educational robotics. An aficionado of yerba mate, his project at the lab is related to doing fizzy drinks of mate.
